The Academic Department is committed to empowering adult learners through accessible, high-quality education that opens pathways to opportunity. Guided by our values of Integrity, Standards, and Care, we provide a comprehensive instructional model that supports students in earning their high school diploma, developing English language proficiency, and preparing for meaningful careers. Recognizing that our students balance work, family, and other life responsibilities, we offer flexible learning pathways—including in-person, blended, and independent study options—designed to meet learners where they are. Through standards-aligned instruction, Career Technical Education (CTE), workforce readiness, and personalized student support, we equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve their educational goals, pursue postsecondary opportunities, and build lives of long-term economic stability and success.

Curriculum
The Curriculum Department is dedicated to providing high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum that supports the diverse needs of teachers and our adult learners. With a focus on data-driven decision-making, the department ensures that instructional materials are effective, relevant, and aligned with the school’s vision and mission. We collaborate with teachers to refine courses, develop pacing guides, and integrate CASAS competencies into our curriculum offerings. Professional development opportunities are offered regularly to equip teachers and paraeducators with strategies tailored to adult student success. The department also prioritizes the development and implementation of innovative learning tools, such as Highlandia, to prepare students for both academic and real-world success.

Student Systems & Academic Compliance
The Student Systems & Academic Compliance Department supports students throughout their educational journey by providing high-quality services that promote access, engagement, and student success. From a student’s first interaction with HCCTS through graduation, our teams work to ensure that students have the resources, records, technology, and support they need to thrive.
Our department is comprised of two specialized teams:
Student Onboarding & Records
Supports prospective and current students through registration, enrollment, records management, transcripts, diplomas, and other essential student services
Digital Navigators
Provides technology support, digital literacy training, and assistance with devices, internet connectivity, and online learning platforms to help students and staff succeed in an increasingly digital learning environment.
